Notification
You will receive an email notification within three business days.
Orientation
Sign up for the in-person and online orientation.
Advisor
Meet with an FlexGE Academic Advisor.
Register
Register for classes.
BYU FlexGE Eligibility
Please keep in mind these eligibility requirements:
- Honor Code Commitment (more info)
- Ecclesiastical Endorsement (more info)
- High school graduate (or equivalent)
- At least a 2.0 GPA
- At least 17 years old by the first day of class
- US citizen (or able to study in the USA without a student visa)
You will also need a BYU account. If you are a parent acting on behalf of your child, please sign up for Guest Access.
When Should I Enroll in FlexGE?
The sooner you enroll in FlexGE the more likely you are to get the classes you want. As the beginning of the semester or term approaches, many classes fill up and it becomes more difficult to find classes to fit your schedule. The deadline to enroll in FlexGE is one week before classes begin.

After we receive your application and ecclesiastical endorsement, you will receive a status notification by email within three business days. If you have not heard back, please contact us at flexge@byu.edu. In the meantime, start working through the information in the Student Resource Center of this website so you are ready to succeed. It will show you how to plan your classes, find housing, register for classes, and more!
Keep in Mind
With few exceptions, FlexGE students have the same level of access to campus offices and resources as admitted BYU students. However, FlexGE students do not have access to:
- Day classes during fall and winter semesters
- On-campus housing during fall and winter semesters
- Federal Financial Aid
- Intercollegiate athletics (including extramural sports)
- Performing groups, programs, or teams that require tryouts, auditions, or enrollment in Day classes
- Individual, Group, and Couples therapy at CAPS
Please also be aware that:
- FlexGE students are not eligible to serve in BYUSA student leadership positions.
- FlexGE students must pay $50 for an athletic facilities wristband.
